About Bóthar
Bóthar, founded in 1991 uses livestock in its Development Aid Projects. Using farm animals such as dairy heifers and dairy goats, Bóthar together with project partners, work with poor families and communities in the Developing World to help alleviate hunger and poverty. Through time, these animals and their produce can bring people living on the margins of survival to a position of relative comfort. Bóthar currently works in 35 countries using many different species of livestock.
What your sponsorship can provide
Almost 80% of the earth’s population live near the poverty line. Many families survive on as little as €2 a day! However all hope is not lost; €4 a day can change the lives of a family for ever. The gift of a farm animal can really help in this regard, taking families to a place of relative prosperity. Below are examples of animals your funds can provide. The cost of most of these gifts can be collected on a single sponsorship card!
3 hives of honey bees – €125
A flock of laying hens – €190
A dairy goat – €300
A dairy cow – €1,800

Alternatively marathon entrants are very welcome to participate in The Bogtrotters Marathon for a charity of their choice if they wish but it is not a requirement of this marathon. Please inform the designated charity and ensure that you have their permission to fundraise on their behalf – they may help with forms and T-shirts. |
